Ken Daniels is a Canadian sportscaster who is popularly known as the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL on Bally Sports Detroit. Ken is entering his 19th season as the voice of the Red Wings. He previously served as a sportscaster with CBC Sports from 1985 to 1997.

According to an autopsy report and death certificate, his son Jamie Daniels died due to an overdose of heroin that had been laced with fentanyl, a synthetic and far more potent form of the drug. The late Jamie passed away on December 7, 2016.
The tragedy of Jamie’s death is that, like all overdoses, it could have been prevented. It became even more tragic after Ken discovered through the FBI that patient brokering practices are, in fact, happening.
He had just been clean for seven months and had been living a sober life in Boyton Beach. Jamie began doing drugs in his freshman year at Michigan State University.

Ken is a longtime active member of Detroit Sports Media (formerly Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association), founded in 1948 by pioneer Tigers announcer Ty Tyson. He was lured away from CBC to take over play-by-play for the Detroit Red Wings and teamed up with color commentator Mickey Redmond for the 1997–98 NHL season.
