The singer was born on April 16, 1971, as Selena Quintanilla in Lake Jackson, Texas. Unfortunately, she passed away on March 31, 1995, in Corpus Christi, Texas after she was fatally shot by former Selena Etc. boutiques‘ manager Yolanda Saldívar.
According to Selena’s dad, Yolanda had embezzled more than $30,000 through forged checks from both the fan club account and the boutiques’ account. She was later arrested and charged with First-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with possible parole after 30 years.
